Chiropractor-Yay or Nay?

As you may or may not know, I've been having problems with abdominal and back muscle pain. One of the treatment options recommended to me was chiropractic treatment. 

I've heard that people can be critical of whether or not chiropractic care is beneficial, so I decided to share my story to set the record straight. 


First Visit

The first visit to anything is always a bit jarring. You don't know what to expect, especially if you're like me and have never had any experience learning what chiropractors actually do.

I went back with Jen and first she consulted with me about what I was experiencing. She listened to everything I had to say and I felt like she had such expertise. Throughout the exam, she was so gentle, and it helped me to relax.



After the first visit, you're expected to feel a bit of pain, because your spine hasn't been adjusted before. Honestly, I walked out of there feeling so much more aligned, straighter is the better word. 

It felt natural to stand up straight, instead of an effort. I did feel a bit of pain once I had been home for a few hours. Overall, I felt better that it was productive pain, and confident that I was going to get better soon. 



I've been going to the chiropractor for almost a month now. It only takes five minutes a week, and I feel more aligned every time I go. 

In terms of pain, I have noticed a difference. My average day to day pain on a scale of one to ten was a seven. That was barely manageable. Now it is about a five, and although it isn't exactly manageable yet, it isn't as bad and that is wonderful. That also means that it may grow. By the time I've had more care, I hope that number will drop even more. 

After a month, I'm fairly confident it will.
